Our client maintained the lease agreement, saved his business, and the reversal at the Court of Appeals helped him save hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Our client ran a large business until his landlord obtained an unlawful detainer (eviction) judgment against him. Our client was about to be evicted. His business would have been destroyed. We brought a motion in front of the trial judge to set aside the forfeiture of our client's lease based upon our contention that the judgment (entered by the same judge to whom we brought our motion) was unjust and created an undue hardship for our client. The Motion was granted! Then we appealed other aspects of the judgment to the Court of Appeals, and much of the original judgment was reversed.
